Sole Plus in conjunction with Converse & Sam Flax joined forces to present Art+Sole+Life on Friday, October 22nd at Ambient Plus Studio. I, along with my gently used pair of Nikes, happily attended this sneaker art exhibit.

To give you a little background, “the Sole Plus initiative began in October of 2009, and has allowed hundreds of young people to use their artistic views to connect with those in need. It was founded on the quote, “Art washes away from the [sole] the dust of everyday life.” The Sole Plus design competition metaphorically washes the dust and dirt from the souls of young artists by providing them with an avenue of expression and a needed pair of shoes to replace old ones.”

To highlight the great nonprofit efforts of Sole Plus, hundreds of people, each donating gently used sneakers, packed out Ambiend Plus Studio. Converse sneakers, or “Chucks” as I like to call them, were cleverly displayed throughout the space; each uniquely designed to tell the life stores of its artists.

Adding to this creative, & ultra dope, event, attendees were able to enjoy live body art, a sneaker design station, & a live performance by drummer “Alien Warr.”

Needless to say, the night was full of great sneakers, entertainment, & people coming together for a purpose.
