What I Wore: 2012 Essence Music Festival

Adrienne July 11, 2012 3

Before heading to New Orleans for the Essence Music Festival I asked myself the question you all know so well…”What am I going to wear?” I knew I had a few pieces I could pull together for casual looks, but I wanted something new and fresh for African Pride’s Beauty Suite.

My first thought was to head to America’s Thrift Store; my go-to for cute and ultra affordable dresses. But, given that my fave thrifting destination is 30 minutes away (without traffic) and I suffer from “let’s wait until the last minute to go shopping” syndrome I ended up a Ross.

Ross is a great location for fashion on the low. Rrom time to time, when they are stocking new items, current in-season fashion goes on clearance. When I entered the store, being privy to this bit of knowledge, I headed straight to the clearance rack. After about 5 minutes of combing the section, [yes I'm one of those shoppers that looks through every rack :) ], I found the cutest print Mlle Gabrielle split sleeve, above the knee, dress for $9.99!

I fell in the love with the dress instantly and after trying it on I knew I had to have it! To accessorize the frock I added a paid of over-sized beige wooden earrings and a few bangles – for arm candy. I finished the look off with my Chinese Laundry Ivie pumps (you may remember them from this outfit).

What do you think of my Essence Music Festival look? Love it or leave it?

Were the shoes comfortable? They look great (and your feet look as smooth as silk, I might add).

Thanks Lisa! Now, as far as comfortable…let’s just say after a while I decided to change into a cute pair of flats :)

I’m a big fan of Ross! I always find the cutest dresses, and I get a lot of compliments. When I tell admirers that I got it at Ross, they can’t believe it, don’t sleep on Ross!
