Essie’s Glamour Purse

Fall is now upon us! What better way to pay homage to the cool weather than to spruce up your nails.

I look forward to Fall because I love layering, completely off topic, and the dark hues it brings.

Essie’s Fall 2011 Collection contains some great colors that perfectly salute cool temps while complimenting the skin.

A few weeks ago I reviewed Lady Like. Well, here is my take on Glamour Purse

In Review: Essie Lady Like

Fall is almost here and you know what that means, new nail polish trends and colors!

While in New York for Fashion Week I was gifted a few of Essie’s new Fall 2011 shades and could not wait to share them with you!

Since we can’t officially pull out our blazers, although it has been a little on the chilly side in Atlanta, I thought I would start off with what I consider a transitional hue, a polish that could easily pass for a Summer or Fall shade.

Blue Nail Polish

My New Infatuation: Blue Nail Polish

While watching an episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, I know, guilty pleasure, I spied one of the ladies sporting some fierce blue nail polish. I could clearly see her polish because this particular scene, like many others, included a healthy dose of finger pointing & hand waving.

So, after watching this certain housewife & her bright blue nails I thought I would give blue a try.

On a thrifting trip several months ago, I purchased Nabi’s Neon Blue. I actually posted about this polish and the others I purchased. Well, this weekend was my first time wearing Neon Blue and, I’m in love!

Watermelon Nails

Bringing in Summer with Watermelon Nails

Saturday evening, while channeling my inner 6th grader, I had the epiphany that I was in dire need of colorful nails.

With no end result in mind, I picked out a few complimentary colors from my polish collection and got creative.

I started off by painting my entire nail with Nabi Melon and then added a green tip with Neon Teal. After looking at the colors for a bit, I thought I needed some dots.

Nabi Nail Lacquer

Colors That Pop: $1.50 Nail Polish for Spring

On a recent thrifting trip I purchased 5 bottle of nail polish. I know; something about the previous sentence seems odd. But, surprisingly enough America’s Thrift Store, my latest in awesome thrift store locations, sells new, never been worn or used, items. Their new items include clothing, and believe it or not, beauty products. They offer lipstick, lip liner, eye shadow, and my favorite, nail polish.

To my delight there were over 20 colors of Nabi Nail Lacquer to choose from. And, to add to my excitement, each bottle was only $1.50!

OPI’s Funky Dunkey is Truly Funky!

While strolling around the East Village in New York I happened upon a small nail salon. I was overdue for a much needed manicure & thought, “why not?”

I’m accustomed to paying $12-$15 for manicure service. Well, at this salon my manicure, hand & back massage included, was a whole $7!

Greater than the insanely low prices was the purple polish, Funky Dunkey, I chose for my nails.

As usual, OPI reigns supreme when it comes to color variety. Funky Dunkey adds spice and youthfulness to the hands and is a perfect color for Spring.

OPI Diva of Geneva

Diva of Geneva: My Last Winter Color

The rigid cold weather in Atlanta has seemingly passed and I’ve started to think that it may be time for me to pack away my winter nail polish. But, before I pull out my bright reds, oranges & blues for Spring I had to wear OPI’s Divia of Geneva.

I got my first glimpse of this warm purple hue on Farrah, Mahogany Bella of Mahogany Knots. I instantly feel in love with the color. It looked great on her hands and purple is my favorite color.

Polished nails using Wicked by Essie

Striped & Dotted with Wicked by Essie

After having naked nails for a few days I began to long for color.

Unable to fight the urge, I headed straight for my polish collection and pulled out Wicked by Essie, and a white French manicure polish.

To begin I applied a base coat to my nails. Then, I brushed two coats of Wicked, on each nail. When polishing my middle finger I covered half of the nail with Wicked and the other half with the white French manicure polish. I added 3 dots to the white side to jazz it up a little. To finish, I applied a topcoat for added shine & to help prevent chipping

Pink & Grey Nail Polish

Grey & Pink: Combining Polish Colors

I have been on the prowl for ways to spice up my nail polish. Although, as I’ve said before, I find neatly polished nails to be chic, I still had an itch for something different.

After watching a few YouTube Videos I thought, “instead of using one polish. Why not use two?” So, I picked up some complimentary colors, pink & grey, and got to work.

OPI Simply Smashing

Sparkling with OPI Simply Smash-ing

I love the look of polished nails. But, for some reason, I can’t make it past day two without chipping. Because of this I normally don’t wear nail polish.

Despite the threat of chipping and due to the boredom, which steamed from being snowed in for three days, I decided to give polishing my nails a try.

I stumbled upon a greenish glittery color, known as OPI’s Simply Smash-ing, in a gift bag I received at Sheen Magazine’s launch party.
