Since 2010 is quickly coming to a close I thought it would be fun to share with you some of my favorite fashion items.

It’s no secret that this year I purchased several button style earrings, constantly rocked some sort of colored clutch and well, lets not even talk about my obsession with oxford boots.

Needless to say, I have fallen in love with more than a few fashion trends this year.

A Visual Wonderland: OVO | Cirque du Soleil

This weekend I had the pleasure of seeing the new Circuq du Solie show, OVO. It was absolutely amazing!

I can best describe OVO as a visual wonderland. It was as if the circus collided with a headlining Las Vegas show, but in a good way.

Uniquely changing scenes within a blink of an eye, unlike a traditional circus, OVO played out a story on one stage.

Created for the masses; children and adults alike will enjoy the unconventional performances, entrancing live music, wonderful costuming & unlikely humor OVO brings.  Read more...

Natural Hair After Heat Damage

Heat Damage Update

A few months ago I experienced some severe heat damage. To view my heat damage post click here.

Over these past two months, to combat the heat damage, I have gradually trimmed off my straight ends. I have cut, roughly, about 1-1 1/2 inches total.

Below are some before and after photos for comparison.

Don’t reach for the scissors just yet. As I stated in my initial post, with patience, time, & a trim or two it is possible to snap back from heat damage.  Read more...

Planning Not to "Plan"…?

I am a planner. I literally plan to make plans. I can’t help it; it’s in my nature. Good Times!: Don’t Be Afraid to Say "Hello"

W Atlanta Midtown’s Whiskey Park hosted a “Gemini Bash” on Friday, June 18th. I was in the mood to mingle, as I often am, so I went with my friend, and publicist extraordinaire, Ashlee.

The atmosphere was great, and the drinks were pretty tasty. Here are some pictures from the evening. 

There is nothing I enjoy more than meeting new people. According to my significant other I will “talk to a brick wall.” He’s right; I’m definitely not afraid to spark up a conversation with a complete stranger.   Read more...

What a Weekend: It’s All About Hair!

So far, my weekend has been all about hair; but, it’s been sprinkled with tons of fun! I started it off by attending a “Gemini Party” at W Atlanta Midtown’s Whiskey Park.  I met up with some old friends and left with new acquaintances. The atmosphere was great and the drinks were too. Of course, while we sipped we talked hair.

Today I headed downtown to the Biltmore Hotel for the Ultimate Fashionista Event sponsored by ESSENCE and Dark & Lovely.  I also stopped by Urbanbella’s Curl Talk & Tea with Shelley Davis. Needless to say, it’s been a long day.  Read more...

Be Thankful

"Overcome With Thankfulness!"

 I listen to the Rickey Smiley Morning Show on my way to work almost every day. I usually miss his morning “Praise Break.” But, yesterday, because I forgot to set my alarm, I was running 10 minutes behind schedule.  Fortunately, I was able to catch some of the segment.  

As the gospel song ended Rickey Smiley spoke. He began to give thanks for the “little things”; the ability to taste food, paper plates, plastic utensils; you know, things we normally overlook.  While pulling into the parking deck of my office building I began to think about how far I have come in my life. As I walked out of Atlanta Beauty Depot, my favorite beauty supply store, a man sitting on the curb said to me, “Don’t I know you?” Before I go any further let me say this; there is nothing wrong with a man sparking a conversation with a woman he finds attractive.
