Summer & Spring Trends with Neiman Marcus & The Baby Shopaholic

Who doesn’t love fashion, endless champagne, and insider tips on how to look fabulous?

Last week, thanks to blogger & fab mommy Trina of The Baby Shopaholic, I was able to indulge in three of my most favorite things, style, cocktails, and learning how to look good!

Neiman Marcus and Trina played host to some of Atlanta’s chicly dressed and camera ready bloggers. In-store stylist Dave Ferguson shared Spring and Summer fashion trends while he displayed a few of the upscale departments store’s most desirable pieces. Nordstrom Rack Tweet Up - Alpharetta, GA

Tweet Up & Shopping Fun at Nordstrom Rack

Yesterday I had the extreme pleasure of attending a Tweet-Up at Nordstrom Rack in Alpharetta, Georgia.

The event was a pre-celebration of the stores grand opening on Thursday, April 19th.

Now, when I say celebration I mean celebration. There was upbeat music, endless cocktails & hor d’oeuvres and first class shopping; all coupled with a $50 gift card!

I found myself overwhelmed by the vast selection of designer clothing, all reasonable priced. But, as luck would have it, there were several extremely friendly Nordstrom Rack employees present to lend a helping hand. Read more...

From the Web: Vogue Italia Speaks on Natural Hair

While browsing the web yesterday I came across a recent article by Vogue Italia.

Within the magazine’s online Black Beauty section sat an article titled Natural Hair Trend.

This brief, but interesting, look at natural hair speaks to “the newest pack of Black models storming the catwalk in full embrace of their natural hairstyles.”

It describes how, due to lack of knowledge by some hairstylists, Black models have endured severe damage to their tresses & scalp. The piece also draws a parallel line between, what it calls, the “Black hair craze” and recent upsurge of models sporting their natural hair on the runway. Read more...

Fashion Uncorked, Atlanta’s most unique charitable fashion event, is a design competition that fuses wine, decadent foods, a silent auction, and music for a great cause.

Held at the beautiful Gwinnett Environmental and Heritage & Center, this Project-Runway style event will feature 10 of Atlanta’s top emerging designers as they create four looks inspired by Theresa Howard’s bold statement jewelry.

Benefiting Easter Seals North Georgia’s efforts to assist adults and children with disabilities, this competition will unleash Georgia’s top fashion talent as they compete to win a trip to California and the chance to be featured in Sheen Magazine. Read more...

Laid Back Rock Star Style!: Win a Trip to NY Fashion Week & a Rock & Republic Makeover

Today I’m jumping on an airplane headed to New York. My visit to the “Big Apple” is business, pleasure and of course hair related!

To prepare myself for my two hour flight, and quasi strip search at airport security, I decided to pull together a “total rock star” look.

Ok. Honestly, my look is 5% total rock star & 95% laid back rock star. Either way, I’m giving the “rock look” a solid effort.

Natural Hair & Fashion!: CBBW 4th Annual Family Health & Beauty Expo

This weekend attended The Center for Black Women’s Wellness 4th Annual Family Health & Beauty Expo.

This free event offered health screenings & sessions discussing health issues that affect African American women.

In addition to the wonderful resources that were provided to its attendees, the Family Health & Wellness Show also hosted a Naturally Fierce Hair & Fashion Show. To my extreme delight I was chosen to participate!

As we displayed our natural hair, outfitted in the best The Gap had to offer, Lexi, of Curls, Coils & Kinks, Elaine of Atlanta Natural Hair Care, BossyGirl1980, Mhe Magazine & I strutted our stuff. Read more...
