What I Wore: Repeat Wearing = Style

In times of trouble, or really when you’re running late and must pull together an outfit in T minus 2 seconds, it is feasible to repeat pieces.

Actually, scratch that, it’s ok at anytime! :)

The art of “re-wearing” is not rocket science; but I know some of us, and you know who you are, do not, and will not, repeat looks.

I completely understand. You don’t want to be caught wearing the same thing.

But, it’s not when you wore it that matters; it’s how you wore it.

What I Wore: My “Epiphany” Look!

What does one wear to a “cocktail luncheon?”

I found myself pondering over this question after I received my invitation to attend Motions Cocktail Luncheon in New York.

From what I know, a lady is “supposed” to wear a cocktail dress to after 5 o’clock events or “cocktail functions” as I like to call them. But, adding the word “cocktail” to a lunch event, which usually calls for casual but cute attire, completely threw me off.

What I Wore “Remix”: From Summer to Winter

To make the most of my wardrobe I wear my pieces year round.

Now, clearly there are some items, like my hooded fur vest I’m itching to wear, that I won’t be able to rock in January and June.

However, if there is a slight chance I can, by the lovely technique of layering, wear something in April and then in October, I definitely will!

So, here’s an instance where I remixed an outfit to fit the season.

What I Wore Holiday Style: Splurge vs. Steal

Last week I found myself in quite the predicament. I was invited to attend a holiday party but, as usual, I felt as if I had nothing to wear.

Being the bargainista that I am, I headed to Sears to see what I could find for the “low.”

I heard about the Kardashian’s new clothing line, Kardashian Kollection while at Lucky Fabb, and thought, to start my hunt, I would stop by their secton first. To my surprise they had a pair of fabulous pumps on sale for $29.99 (originally $59.99)!

Not only were they fab but they were HOT. With a high heel, slightly rounded toe and for less than $30.00, they had to be mine.

What I Wore: Denim Galore

Here’s the deal, I love denim. Denim dresses, skirts, shirts, pants, vests…you name it! If it’s denim, I most likely have it in my closet.

So when trying to decide what to pair with my $0.99 dark denim shirt it’s no surprise I chose pink denim pants.

But, not just any pink denim pants. I specifically pulled out the Gloria Vanderbilt jeans I snagged at Second Chance Thrift Store, my new fav thrifting spot. They set me back a whole $3.99.

What I Wore: Fickle Weather Style

Last Saturday I attended Nordstrom’s Fall 2011 Cosmetics Trend Show. The event began at 7:30am and of course, I woke up late. I was pressed for time and after watching the weather forecast a bit confused.

Unable to make a decision on dressing for the current temperature or later in the day, I decided my best bet would be to layer. I’m a huge fan of layering, hence why I love Fall. But I digress. :)

What I Wore: Southern Chic Style

Earlier this week I attended a VIP reception & screening for the upcoming film The Help. The invitation for this event suggested “southern chic” attire so, I did my best to dress for the occasion.

I wore a blue, white, & black flower dress I picked up at America’s Thrift Store. Yes, you guessed it; I get the majority of my dresses from the thrift store.

For a more youthful look I paried a belt with the dress. And, to add a pop of unexpected color, I sported my bright yellow shoulder bag.

What I Wore: Staying Cool in HOT-LANTA

Before I stepped out on Saturday to visit John Frieda’s Destination Style Salon Tour I was faced with the decision of how I was going to brave the heat in style.

Really, how does one stay cute when it is hotter than hot?

I decided to go with a purple high-waist skirt from America’s Thrift Store and a black and white tank, gifted from my lovely Mother; you gotta love a Mom that’s in tune with your fashion sense!

What I Wore: Rodeo Drive Edition

“What does one wear when strolling the pavement of Rodeo Drive?” This is the question I asked myself before I took my greatly anticipated walk down the famous street.

Not knowing what L.A. weather would bring, I’ve learned sunny in Los Angeles doesn’t always equal hot, I opted for a pair of jeans and a multi colored paisley top.

Lately, the majority of my “What I Wore” posts have been thrift store finds. However, although I’m an avid thrifter, I also like to shop at department stores and boutiques. I’l browse any store that has a potential bargain.

What I Wore: My Vintage Ode to Sex & the City

Last night I attended Candace Bushnell’s book signing for her new work Summer and the City: A Carrie Diaries Novel. The event took place at the chic W Hotel in Buckhead. So, in true Sex & the City fashion, I had to spice it up with my outfit.

For this occasion I wore a vintage geometric patterned dress, a wide black & silver belt, and slipped on a pair of nude heels. As I have been told several times, you can never go wrong with classic pair of pumps.
