Pre-Shopping List for TJMaxx & Marshalls

Pre-Shopping List: What Am I Going to Buy At TJ Maxx/Marshalls?

It’s always good to have an idea of what you are looking for or what you would like to buy before going shopping. It helps you stay on task during your shopping trip and, if you stick to your list, not overspend.

On Friday I will be attending a “New Year New You” event at TJ Maxx/Marshalls.

Lexi, of Curls, Coils & Kinks, & Danielle, of The Style & Beauty Doctor orchestarted this awesome event for bloggers in the Atlanta area. I am super excited to meet, greet, and of course, shop!

When All Else Fails…Sell It or Consign It!

Fall is upon us. Technically it’s time to replace our summer pieces with cool weather clothing. But, if you are like me, you may be in dire need of a closet cleansing.

While you are pulling out your skirts, boots, and blazers from last fall, you may find yourself thinking, “why, did I buy that?” What was “hot” in 2010 may, in 2011, be “not so cute” a little snug, or in a perfect world, insanely loose. Who wouldn’t mind dropping a few pounds?

Thrift Store Floral Blouse

Thrifting DIY: Off the Shoulder Floral Blouse

While shopping do you ever find yourself thinking, “that skirt would be cute if it were shorter” or “I wish the strap on this top was thinner; if it was I would totally buy it.”

On a recent thrifting adventure with a co-worker I found myself thinking similar thoughts.

While doing my usual “combing of the racks,” at Second Chance Thrift Store, I found a bright colored floral blouse. I was in love with the print, and the price (it was ½ off $2.99), but for some reason wasn’t wowed by the cut of the shirt.

My Secret Obsession: Belts

We all have accessories that we just can’t do without. Well, along with my healthy love for clutch handbags & vintage earrings, I have a huge obsession with belts.

I believe my love of belts began in college. I remember my roommates teasing me for always, and I do mean always, adding belts to my outfits. There is just something about a cinched waist that I crave.

For me, the right belt, with the right outfit, screams chic, sexy and well put together.

Thrift Store Purses

Pass Along Thrifting: One Women’s Excess is Another’s Treasure

I come from a long line of women who are bargain hunting & thrift store shopping queens. Naturally, several times a year, they purge their finds to make room for more.

On several occasions I have been the recipient of boxes filled with flea market, thrift store, and even designer goodies. Recently I came home to discover a package full of the fabulous handbags below!

I decided to share my gifted haul with you all to encourage the art of “passing along.”

What’s Your “Go-To” Guide for Fashion & Beauty?

We all have a “go-to” guide for style & beauty tips. It may be a particular magazine, an extremely fashionable relative, or maybe even our own stylish know-how.

I love to browse magazines for the latest tips, trends & tricks. I find the glossy pages and brand editorials to be a great way to stay abreast of recent happening and to enhance my fashion knowledge.

What about yourself? What are some of your favorite fashion & beauty resources? Are you an avid Essence or Lucky reader? Or do you get your style & beauty fix from Elle and Glamour.

Bling Bow

A Little “Bling” Goes a Long Way!

We all have items hanging in our closets that we find plain & ultra dull. We fight the urge to toss them, thinking that eventually we will wear them. But, we never do.

As the title says, a little bling goes a long way! You can take your lack luster pieces to the next level with a few sparkly accessories.

To bring a simple black cardigan & dress to life I took a studded bow and pinned it to each item. To add another touch of flair I wrapped a sequin belt around the dress.
